The Rev. Robert Morgan “Bob” Tarbet, Jr., died on Wednesday, April 21, 2016 in a diving accident. Tarbet was a very experienced diver and loved the sport, according to friends. The funeral was held at St. Alban’s, Waco, Saturday, May 7 at 2 p.m. Bishop Dena Harrison officiated and Bishop Rayford High assisted.
Bishop High, former Bishop of Ft. Worth, preached and celebrated with the congregation of St. Mary’s in Hamilton, TX, where Tarbet was serving as permanent supply priest at the time of his death.
“Bob has been a friend for many years as was his brother David,” Bishop High said. “I’m shocked and so deeply saddened by his loss.”

Tarbet served as rector of Trinity, Marble Falls; vicar of St. Luke’s, Lindale and Christ Church, Matagorda and as supply following his retirement in 2000. He also served as a chaplain in the US Army from 1977 through 1989. Tarbet is predeceased by his brother, who also served as a priest of the Diocese of Texas, the Rev. David Tarbet.
