Ben Sledge is our 2018 Veterans Conference keynote speaker. Ben is a graphic designer, writer, storyteller, and combat veteran who works within the music industry for HeartSupport, a non-profit that helps Millennials (often ages 16-33) battling addiction, suicide ideation, depression, sexual abuse, loneliness, broken relationships, and a host of other issues.

The Episcopal Veterans Fellowship hosted the 3rd Annual Veterans Conference for veterans and veteran caregivers on Friday, September 22, 2017. The conference tookplace in the Weeks Campus Center at Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, TX from 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM. Check out our photo gallery HERE.
This one-day event included a talk defining moral injury by Dr. Brian S. Powers. A veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, Powers graduated from Columbia Theological Seminary and earned his Ph.D in Theological Studies at Emory University’s Graduate Division of Religion. Caesar Stovall was an Army Combat Medic in Afghanistan and is now a Hypnotherapist, Master Practitioner of NLP (Neuro-Lingustic Programming), and an international fashion model. After a presentation on Psycho Cybernetics and NLP, Stovall led conference attendees in a group immersion experience.
The 2017 Veterans Conference served to equip counselors, medical professionals, clergy, veterans’ advocates, and interested parties with an understanding of the causes of moral injury and ways to address it.
